There are two books in the Principles of Mathematics curriculum:

• Level 1 (7th grade)
• Level 2 (8th grade)

The Placement Tests for each are entrance exams designed to determine whether a student is ready for a particular Level. We recommend all students take the Level 1 Placement Test first – there are only 13 questions. If the student does well, then the student should try the Level 2 Placement Test.

• If the student does well in both Placement Tests, they are ready for Level 2.
• If the student does well in the Level 1 Placement Test, but not so well in the Level 2 Placement Test, they are ready for Level 1.

If the student does not do well in either Placement Test, they are not ready for Principles of Mathematics and should review the concepts listed in the Level 1 Placement Test.
