I (Nancy) have enjoyed using the Progeny Press Study Guides for the Literature class that I taught at our homeschool co-op. I did not require the students to write an answer to every question, but utilized some of them for class discussion. It was a good way to begin requiring short essay answers preparing students for future work. I was pleased with the Christian worldview from which the study guides are written.
The actual books can be ordered together with each guide.
When we studied Shakespeare, we found it very helpful to read through a synopsis of the play before beginning. Knowing the characters and basic plot gave us all a better understanding as we progressed through the play.
